In late 2005 the Polocrosse Association of Australia announced its high performance and selection committees. In December 2005 they revealed the names of the Australian squad which would prepare to defend the title as world cup holders in 2007.
The official eight member Australian world cup team was announced on 8 October at the 2006 Australian National Polocrosse titles at Camden, New South Wales.

Preparations As the current World Champions, Australia is taking its preparations for 2007 very seriously.
Early in 2007 the official team will attend the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra as part of its pre-Cup preparations.
The Australian squad has participated in reciprocal tours with New Zealand during 2006.

Australia has also hosted the following young internationals during 2006: - The US Under 16s visit Australia in June/July 2006
- The UK Under 21s played four test matches against Queensland in July 2006.

The Polocrosse Association of Australia (PAA) in Sydney on 17 October 1946. Each of the State associations were then established throughout Australia, mostly during the 1950s.
Participation in Polocrosse in Australia is growing with an impressive 18% increase in membership in 2005.
