Preparations

Since the 2003 World Cup, Ireland has participated in a number of internationals to develop player skills and experience. These have included:

  • Hosting competitions from visiting UK players
  • Irish Women's tour to the USA in May 2006
  • Ireland hosted the US Men's team visit in June 2006.

Polocrosse was introduced into Ireland in 1990 and currently there are eight clubs with over 500 members in the Irish Polocrosse Association (IPA). In a country renowned for its horses and the unusual but fast, ancient game of Hurling, it is no surprise that the Polocrosse bug has been caught by so many people from all walks of life in Ireland.
