What is it?
This second Polocrosse World Cup promises to be the sport's most prestigious event ever held. Competition is played in teams as a mixed sport, described further in About Polocrosse.
In March 2006 event naming rights were secured by Ridley AgriProducts Pty Ltd, Australia's largest stockfeed manufacturer
with brand leaders such as
Barastoc, Rumevite and Cobber. A current list of event supporters is listed under sponsorship.
Where is it?
Australia - the country which invented the game - will again host the World Cup. The event will be held in Warwick on Queensland's Southern Downs. Warwick is situated on two national highways and within two hours' drive from the east coast centres of Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and south to the NSW border. Further information is provided in the visitors section of our website.
When is it?
Competition in the Ridley Polocrosse World Cup 2007 will be held between 23 and 29 April 2007 inclusive. To be redirected to the full event programme click here.
Who will it attract?
The inaugural World Cup in 2003 attracted 25,000 domestic and international visitors and we are expecting even bigger crowds in 2007. In addition to competitors from across Australia, teams from Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, UK, USA, and Zimbabwe have all confirmed their participation. Concurrent with the international competition is the three day Australian Equine Alliance Clubs competition which will draw competitors from some 4000 players across Australia, plus France, the Netherlands and Zambia. Warwick's location and attractions combine to make it an appealing short break destination for the domestic tourist as well as inbound visitors.
Who is involved?
Each country will have eight players and a team of officials and supporters. Australia will field 200 horses required for the mixed Polocrosse event. Most of these horses will be registered Australian Stock Horses. Re-appointed as Chairman of the 2007 Cup is Les Fraser, who is respected for his contribution to both sport and business.
