| Research
In 2003 an economic impact study was undertaken on the inaugural Polocrosse World Cup. The report published by the University of Southern Queensland showed that the event generated a $1.4 million economic benefit to the region. It is anticipated that the 2007 event will produce a greater benefit.
Scope
Thanks to a collaborative partnership, a similar study will be undertaken on the Ridley Polocrosse World Cup 2007. The basis of this study will be a visitor survey undertaken at Morgan Park during Cup week (23:29 April 2007). Visitors to the Ridley Polocrosse World Cup will be invited to participate in valuable market research. In addition to questions on respondent profile, the following data will be collected:
- identify duration of visit and the composition of their travel party
- record expenditure across a range of categories
- ascertain what else they experienced during their visit to Warwick
- rate their satisfaction with the World Cup experience and facilities
- record how they heard about the world cup
- ask whether they are new to horse sports.
Partnership
The project is a collaborative one between the organisers of the 2007 Polocrosse World Cup and the following parties:
- Questionnaire design/training of data collectors - Cozzi Marketing & PR
- Data collection - SQIT Warwick, TAFE students in business studies
- Data input - Warwick Shire Council
- Data analysis and report - Dr Diana J. Beal,
retired. Formerly
Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Business, University of Southern Queensland.
Credits
Event organisers appreciate and acknowledge the contribution of each of these research partners, without whom such a study would not be possible. It will provide valuable information for Polocrosse, for the Shire Council and Queensland Events Corporation. |
