          Rules

This is an outdoor team sport played on horseback. This competition will be played under International rules. Each player uses a racquet which has a loose twisted-thread net to carry and pass the ball and score goals

Each team has six riders/players. Each team is divided into two sections of three players. The sections alternate: one section plays while the other rests.

On the field, one plays attack, the second centre and the third defence. Each section plays alternative periods of time known as chukkas. In the World Cup competition the preliminary rounds will be played as 6 x 6 minute Chukkas, thereafter as 8 x 6 minute Chukkas, creating a fast-moving and attractive spectator sport. The playing field or pitch (146.5m long x 55m wide) is divided into three areas: a goal scoring area at either end, and a centre area.

To score a goal the ball has to be thrown by the No. 1 player from within the goal scoring area and directed through the posts, which stand 2.5m apart. A goal is worth one point and the total aggregate of goals scored by the two sections in each team constitutes the final score.
