We were lucky enough to play in a couple of carnivals prior to the world cup. The players have interacted a lot more than at the previous world cup and there has been a very friendly atmosphere. Ireland can hold their heads up high as they have played some very good polocrosse at this world cup.

Tara Power Ireland player said, “its been a good world cup, Ireland has really improved. The crowd was really great. Our Irish supporters traveled so far and didn't stop shouting until the last whistle. New Zealand Goals: Sue Gower 7, Tony Schrafft 13

COUNTRIES SCORE
South Africa v New Zealand 21:20

South Africa and New Zealand have provided World Cup audiences with the most exciting polocrosse of the entire tournament with both of their games decided by just one goal – and one of them by a golden goal in extra time. The final of the second division featured another momentous tussle between Kiwi captain Shane Hill and SA goal thrower Charl du Plessis. Both endeared themselves to the huge crowd with brave play in center field and in the goal scoring area. SA captain Gavin Cocker led his side with excellent defence and attack while NZ's damage was mainly done by No 1 Tony Schrafft. The NZ team remained unchanged throughout the match while there were minor changes to the SA women. The crowd went berserk when, at the beginning of the eighth and final chukka, the scores were still level. The result was the opposite of their previous match which NZ won by one goal.

Dawnay Jacobs and Kelly Redford, South African team members said, “the game was very good it was very close. New Zealand came out much harder than we expected. It just came down to who wanted it more and who had the heart. We are a very young team, but we are extremely passionate. We're proud to be here and proud to be representing South Africa. We've got lots of up and coming junior riders and we can only hope for the best for the 2011 world cup.

Tony Schrafft New Zealand team Captain said, “its been a fantastic tournament with some great games. We came to win and it didn't happen, but that's sport. It's a highlight of a polocrosse to come to the world cup and be part of a professionally run tournament. As a country we're looking forward to 2011, we have some good young players at home who will hopefully rise to the challenge to join the squad.

UK Goals: Shelly King 7, Jason Burbidge 3, Guy Robertson 3

COUNTRIES SCORE
Final World Cup: Australia v United Kingdom 36:13

Australia went at the UK from the jump. Early chukkas set the scene for a dominant Australian performance. Australia No. 1's Kylie Dowling & Jane Cooper stole the lime light with a very strong goal throwing performance. However Suzette Lister was also

outstanding playing No3 and came away with the Best International Lady Player Award. Goal throwing duties were shared by 3 Australian players Troy Henry, Aaron Clarke and Andrew Rose who all showed great ball skills and horsemanship to completely dominate their opposition. Hayden Turnbull played the entire final at No 3 for Australia allowing only 6 goals to be thrown by the UK attack players.

UK played above themselves to reach the final, improving their ranking from 7 th in 2003. The Australian ‘s on their home turf were far too strong in the final, going onto record a convincing win.

Australian Captain Tanya Hollow said, “it's unbelievable, almost overwhelming. We knew UK had their tails up after defeating the Kiwis yesterday, so we had to dominate from the start. We played high intensity polocrosse, it wasn't always pretty but we got the job done. It's going to be fantastic for polocrosse in 2011 when the next World Cup is hosted by the United Kingdom . Our Assitant Coach, Noel Challis is always telling us – if you can dream it, you can do it.”

Greg Sargent Coach of the UK team said “the whole week has been a complete experience. We arrived in Australia ranked 7 th and we leave ranked second. Our first goal was to get into the top four, beating the Kiwis was unbelievable. In 2011 England will be a force to be reckoned with.
